Position: TAX PARTNER (or MANAGER)
Location: Marin County, CA (In-office, Hybrid, or Remote)
Company: Local CPA Firm with 40-year history of client service and growth.
Reports To: Founding partners (2)

 COMPANY OVERVIEW:
A well-established firm located in Marin County for over 40 years is renowned for its solid reputation in the business and local community. Their finely-honed systems, procedures, team structure, and tools support a high level of client satisfaction, with many clients loyal to the firm for decades. Continual influx of new clients is driving the need for this new role.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The firm has grown to the extent they need one more partner-level professional on the team. Though the partners anticipate staying together for the foreseeable future, they are willing to start sharing equity now. Bringing a client portfolio is not necessary but is
welcomed and can be accommodated. Either enter as a partner or grow into the role, as appropriate. You will be supported by tax preparers, senior accountants, assemblers, and other staff as needed.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Management:

  • Support all activities within firm, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Participate in reviewing tax returns for individuals, businesses, estates/trusts,
    and other tax compliance services.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the taxprofessionals and support staff.
  •  Participate in the hiring, training, and performance evaluations for tax staff.

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to grow the Tax Department’s client base and
    revenue, once you have settled into the role.
  • Identify new business opportunities and enhance existing client relationships.
  • Participate in client communications, ensuring excellent service and satisfaction.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Refine the current Lacerte tax software and systems, ensuring efficient, timely, and
    effective operations. Integrate AI into the practice.
  • Handle tax filings, extensions, compliance returns, and tax planning.
  • Manage work scheduling and resource allocation to meet deadlines and client
    needs.

Client Engagement:

  • Interface directly with clients to provide tax compliance, research, and planning services.
  • Represent the firm in the community, enhancing its reputation and visibility.
  • Participate in clientmarketingandbusinessdevelopmentefforts as desired.

Financial Oversight:

  • Contribute to the firm’s overall financial strategy and goals.

 CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Credentials:

  • CPA license preferred.
  • MS in Taxation or equivalent preferred

Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in a tax function, with good review skills.
  • Experience managing a tax team preferred.
  • Prior experience in an accounting firm; having managed own firm is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong expertise in tax compliance, research, and planning.
  • Review and training skills.
  • Leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
